He’ll most assuredly be awesome in Inside Llewyn Davis, and today’s NPR First Listen reveals that Oscar Isaac has a fantastic musicality about him.
But let’s not forget this gem from the deservedly overlooked 10 Years, in which Isaac plays a John Mayer-esque pop star returning for his 10-year reunion and to confess his long-unrequited love for a classmate (Kate Mara).
In other Civil Wars-related news, I love this lyric video for “Dust to Dust.” I don’t usually like lyric videos. I think they’re kind of hokey. But this one, against all odds, works.
"In a democracy, hostage tactics are the last resort for those who can’t win their fights through elections, can’t win their fights in congress, can’t win their fights for the presidency, and can’t win their fights in the courts. For this right wing minority, hostage-taking is all they have left. A last gasp of those who cannot cope with the realities of our democracy. The time has come for those legislators who cannot cope with the reality of our democracy to get out of the way so that those of us in both parties, who understand that the American people sent us there to work for them, can get back to work solving real problems faced by the American people. Anna Kendrick should be in everything. Great song. Great voice. Great video.
My father-in-law emails me a lot of videos and news stories. One of the benefits of having a moderately tech-savvy father-in-law is that he’ll send you cool things you don’t really have to look for. A lot of them have to do with Asia since he spent the majority of his professional life traveling to and from it.
Well, this video, of a landslide in Taiwan, takes the cake. Good for an early morning pants-shitting.
