True Confession Tuesday :: Regina Spektor

Totally apt for today, but I have a not-so-subtle crush on Regina Spektor. I absolutely adore everything about her.

You can stream her new album, What we Saw From The Cheap Seats, on NPR now.

To say I’m excited is a severe understatement.

True Confession Tuesday

My favorite part of Saturday Night Live is the ending.

When everyone is hugging and laughing and applauding themselves, and the saxophone is wailing in the background. I think it’s one of the happiest moments television has to offer each week. Every member of the cast and crew is so genuinely proud of their accomplishment and the final product, and it shows in their body language and jovial nature.

There’s just something about that part of the show each week that puts a huge smile on my face, makes me wonder what it’s like to be a part of something larger, something so truly beloved by millions of people.

True Confession Tuesday

I really wish I could grow a respectable beard. But I can’t. I’m Jewish, so you’d think growing a beard would be a piece of cake. I mean…

But I’m also half-Mexican, so our beards end up looking more like this…

The hair is just different. Whenever I try and grow a beard, it comes out splotchy. It’s very frustrating. Imagine something you want to do more than anything. Got it? Now imagine that you can’t do it no matter how hard you tried. Very frustrating.

My dream beard?

Also, True Confession Tuesday sub-confession: I enjoy the music of one Matt Nathanson. Judge away.

True Confession Tuesday: TWINS!

This is as good an avenue as any for my True Confession Tuesday.

I’m scared of twins. Like legitimately frightened by them. And it stems from The Shining. My dad and I watched Kubrick’s Shining when I was 11 years old. It (obviously) gave me nightmares. Like a lot of nightmares. There was probably a collective month in which I didn’t sleep.

So now whenever I see twins, especially around 10 years old and brunette, I get really freaked out. I mean, can you blame me?? Look at them…

They’re terrifying. Simply terrifying.

Every time I get dressed, I think about how my outfit will serve me in the event of a zombie attack/Cloverfield monster/nuclear apocalypse.

Which is why, more often than not, I choose flats over heels. You just never know when you’re going to need to run for your life.

The most perfect Tumblr post ever. Sensibility. Zombies. Woody Harrelson GIF.

True Confession Tuesday

I secretly enjoy watching The Bachelor/Bachelorette. This is my one trash-TV vice, and I’m not sure I really want to shake it. Some of these people are just so sad, so silly, so in need of a camera in front of their face to blossom into the best/worst versions of themselves.

Except for Ashley. She’s one of my best friends and doesn’t need a camera in front of her to be awesome.

True Confession Tuesday

I’ve never heard a single song by The Black Keys.

[insert Tumblr shame here]

So I’m going to listen to El Camino on The Strut this morning to see how I like them. If they pass the test, I’ll proceed to download their entire discography tonight and become the most rabid Black Keys fan there ever was.

That’s just how I roll.

True Confession Tuesday

If I had it to do over again, I wouldn’t have majored in journalism in college. I would’ve chosen something more useful, like business or law.

You know what they say about hindsight.

True Confession Tuesday

I spent my lunch break (roughly the past 45 minutes) playing Tiger Woods 2011 on my iPad.
